Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to progressive movement towards American equality for all. Each year, the nation celebrates these same ideals in his honor. It was his vision to see all races and communities come together for the betterment of humanity, and it was his dream to see everyday citizens unite in the pursuit of establishing just laws. Today, the Latino community embraces these views more than ever. They are standing as one with the country to say in a singular voice that changes still need to be made and that all minorities are important to the political process. Dr. King’s day of remembrance serves to Latinos as a milestone for how far we have come as a people and how much more we must still achieve as a nation.
